University Of Lagos Withdraws From Allegation Of Rusticating Lady Who Twerked In Front Of A Statue In School.

The management of the University of Lagos has denounced the rumour that it rusticated a final year student of the institution for four semesters for allegedly dancing with the statue of a former vice-chancellor.

A video, which went viral on the social media on Sunday, showed the undergraduate, whose name was not mentioned but believed to be a 400 level student of the Faculty of Arts, dancing with a statue of former Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adetokunbo Sofoluwe, in a manner that was generally viewed as ‘disrespectful’.


But, reacting to the rumour in a statement posted on its Facebook page on Monday, the university authority urged members of the general public to disregard it.


Also, the Deputy Registrar, Information, Mr. Toyin Adebule, in a telephone interview with PUNCH correspondent, dismissed the rumour as untrue.


He said, “This story is not true. There is nothing like that. The University of Lagos authority is not so mean. How can the management of the institution be bothered with a student dancing round a statue? Even when a female student posted a nude picture of herself on our website, we did not do anything to her.
I have seen the video of the girl dancing with the statue. Somebody sent it to me. How are we sure that she is a student of the University of Lagos, in the first place? Please, there is no iota of truth in that story. The vice-chancellor is not even aware of the so-called rustication and I am not aware of it. Besides, the girl has done nothing wrong.
