Michigan Wide Receiver Grant Perry Is Back With Team With Criminal Sexual Conduct Case Pending Till July 17

Six months after Michigan said that Grant Perry would be “indefinitely suspended” while awaiting trial on charges of criminal sexual conduct and assaulting a police officer, the wide receiver is back with the team.
After a mid-May trial was adjourned and rescheduled for July, head coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed that Perry has been working out with the team and will be in fall camp.
Perry’s four charges stem from an incident in October, in which he was accused of “sexually assaulting (by touching)” a woman outside a bar. Police were on the scene and a “fracas” ensued, with Perry allegedly giving an officer a “minor hand injury,” according to an East Lansing Police spokesman. He was then charged with two misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, a felony for resisting or avoiding arrest, and a misdemeanor for being a minor in possession of alcohol. (Perry was 19 years old at the time and has since turned 20.)

Perry’s case has since moved from East Lansing District Court to Ingham County Circuit Court, and his trial will be held July 17.
