NAFDAC Launches Investigation Into Imported Garri From India

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has commenced investigation into the purported import of garri from India.
The Acting Director General of NAFDAC, Mrs Yetunde Oni
disclosed this in Ilorin, Kwara state yesterday at a one-day zonal campaign on current regulatory issues in the safe use of drugs, animal feeds, pesticides and chemicals.
She said the imported Indian garri had no NAFDAC number.
Mrs Oni who said that preliminary investigation had revealed that the product was made in Ghana however, insisted that it was packaged in UK.
She said efforts were on to know how the product got into the country and that garri is a staple food in Nigeria which should earn Nigerians foreign exchange.
