A bereaved father was forced to carry his dead 5-year-old daughter for a distance of about 15 kilometers because he couldn’t afford an ambulance.

According to reports from the Hindustan Times, a man identified as Gati Dhibar, was left with no choice than to trek almost 15 kilometres, carrying his dead child, from the Palalahada Community Health Centre (CHC) in Angul to his village in Pechamundi.

According to the district collector, Anil Kumar Samal, the medical officer of the hospital, and that measures would be taken. He said:
“Following dead body carrying incident in Palalahada, the sub-collector visited the spot and spoke to the family members of the deceased. On the basis of the report, security guard and junior hospital manager has been suspended. We shall ensure nothing undignified happens with any dead body.”
