Breaking News: 3 Die, 17 Injured In Fresh Borno Bomb Explosion
The Borno state police command has confirmed the death of 3 persons including 2 suicide bombers as 17 others sustained various degree of injuries in Sunday morning suicide attack explosion on Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
The two female suicide bombers aged between 7 and 8 years tried to gain access to the entrance of the popular Monday market through the Elkanemi round about when they were halted for a search and in the process they detonated the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) they were carrying.
Briefing Journalists at the scene of the blast, the Borno state commissioner of police, Damian Chukwu said the incident occurred around 8:30am on Sunday when the two female suicide bombers detonated explosive at the gate of Maiduguri Monday market.
He said only the two suicide bombers died while 17 persons sustained various degrees of injuries adding adding that the injured have been taken to Borno state specialist hospital.
“ At about 0850hrs, two suicide bombers detonated IEDs strapped to their bodies by Monday market round about. 17 persons sustained various degrees of injuries, and are presently at specialist hospital. While only the suicide bombers died in the blast,” Chukwu said.
