The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the appeal filed by the All Progressives Congress’ candidate in the last governorship election in Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva – declaring Seriake Dickson of the Peoples Democratic Party as the validly elected Governor.
The seven-member panel of judges led by Justice Tanko Muhammad, unanimously affirmed the election of Governor Dickson, who was returned as the winner of the poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
After much deliberation on various cases filed as regards to the dispute over the last year’s governorship election in the State, the lead judge, in his judgement, stated that he would give his reasons for the decision on November 18.
Bear in mind, Mr. Dickson’s election as governor had earlier been approved by the election tribunal and the Court of Appeal.
Not satisfied, the APC Candidate then stormed the Supreme Court to challenge the decision of the appeal court.
