Tim Cahill's memorable goal over Melbourne

Has there ever been a footballer who rises -- often literally -- to the occasion like Tim Cahill? Certainly, there's been no better produced by Australia.

The 36-year-old made his long-awaited A-League debut on Saturday night in Melbourne City's 4-1 thrashing of crosstown rivals Melbourne Victory, and made an instant impact.



Just prior to the half-hour mark, the Socceroos' greatest-ever goalscorer collected a loose ball some 40-metres out from goal and dispatched an unstoppable drive past hapless Victory keeper Lawrence Thomas.

Remarkable. But not at all surprising given Cahill's ability to find the net when his team needs him the most.
